She hac as her guests the little Misses Doro thy Milliken, Anne and Ruby Aliscee Clarke, Mary Evelyn Bishop and San Rion. The guests were accompanied by their mothers. The table wat decorated with two pretty little birth day cakes, where one little candle beamed to signify a year of happj life. A representative of the American La France Fire Engine Company iwaa in Tryon Saturday conferring with Chief Wilson and the city authorities in reference to the new apparatnjs. The present equipment has been found to be inadequate to take care of Tryon'a j art to Hn.rapid gmwftH [that has taken place here in tie past 11 (few months. The new engine will be of the most I modern type, consisting of motbr driven pump and also chemical devices j with a six-cylinder motor, a much more powerful engine with larger ' truck, the same type as used in Charlotte, Asheville. Greenville and Spartanburg. The new fire fighting apparatus is > expected to be installed at ah early date.
